Foxfield to Incorporate New Technologies for Additional Race-Day Entertainment and Benefits
(Charlottesville, VA – Sept. 15, 2022) – Albemarle County’s signature Steeplechase racing event – the Foxfield Races – will host its Fall Family Day on Sunday, October 2, 2022. Tickets are on sale now through Foxfield’s online ticketing platform at www.foxfieldraces.com. Foxfield will once again partner with Habitat for Humanity of Greater Charlottesville, which will receive a portion of tickets sold and additional philanthropic support from Foxfield’s corporate sponsors. New this fall, Foxfield will debut electronic ticketing, as well as a new race-day contest through the online app StableDuel, which will give race goers and the community a chance to win $2,500 in prizes.
Last fall, Foxfield announced its new long-term partnership with Habitat for Humanity of Greater Charlottesville and presented a $50,000 check from proceeds from the fall races, an amount Foxfield hopes to meet again this year. Many Habitat families and supporters will be invited to experience the excitement of Foxfield, including attending the races and visiting the Foxfield stables for an exclusive opportunity to learn alongside a local equestrian trainer. To further support Habitat, Foxfield’s Board, advisory board and Founders Circle members will participate in a “Build Day” on Friday, September 16, from 8:45 AM – 12 PM at 132 Piedmont Ave. S Charlottesville, VA 22903.
A new experience for Foxfield is the ability for race attendees and the community to enter a contest through the online app StableDuel for a chance to win $2,500 in prizes. Everyone will be invited to download the app, select 10 horses from the six races, and score points based on the horses’ finishing positions.
For the first time in its history, Foxfield is issuing electronic tickets. General admission tickets and parking hang tags will be emailed to attendees. Reserved parking hang tags will continue to be mailed, but the four tickets that come with a reserved parking space will be emailed right after the transaction is complete. Foxfield Merchandise is also now available to purchase online.
“We are continuing to incorporate new technologies and activities to enhance the race-day experience and Foxfield’s support of the Charlottesville community,” said Kelsey Cox, executive director of the Foxfield Races. “Our mission is to make the Foxfield experience accessible for as many people as possible to spread our knowledge of and enthusiasm for steeplechase racing and to give back to our community for all of the wonderful years it has supported us.”
During the Fall Family Day race, the Green section is home to the Children’s Tent with activities for children, including Habitat’s LEGO-building competition, ACAC’s family obstacle course, Foxfield’s Stick Pony Creation Station, dance performances by The Wilson School of Dance and The Hive Cville’s craft project.
A “truck touch” will feature vehicles from: Faulconer Construction, Tiger Fuel, Allied Concrete, Albemarle County Police Department, and Hilliard Estate and Land Management, while the Vendor Village and food trucks will host many more of Charlottesville’s community favorites. The Blue section is on the outside rail and is a relaxing area to view the races, as well as an easy area for Handicapped Accessible requests. The Pink and Purple sections host Sponsors and the Foxfield 500 corporate tents. (The New Orange Entertainment Park is only available for the spring races.) Through Foxfield’s website, attendees can view the interactive map, purchase tickets, select their parking spaces, and choose add-ons, such as 10×10 tent rentals by Virginia Tent Rentals that are set up in advance in reserved spaces.
Foxfield’s corporate hospitality experience, the Foxfield 500, will host fully catered tents along the rail near the finish line for major sponsors. These sponsors are making significant investments in Foxfield’s revitalized mission, including supporting the Habitat partnership, enhancing the racing purse structure, and building the long-term financial foundation for the Foxfield grounds and races. Sponsors include: Allied Concrete, Brown Advisory, Faulconer Construction, Flow Audi Charlottesville, Marsh McLennan Agency, Quantitative Investment Management, Tiger Fuel, Virginia Eagle Distributing, and Virginia National Bank.
Gates will open at 9:30 AM, and the first race is scheduled for 12:30 PM. For more information, visit www.foxfieldraces.com or contact Kelsey Cox at [email protected].
